NEWSLETTER ARCHIVE - Previous 4 weeks

20th
November 2011
From the Pastor's pen...
Thank you all for your thoughts
and prayers for this past week we were in Vietnam.
The time we had will be one we never forget and was quite defining as
we came to understand more about our history and the circumstances
that led to our family separation in 1975. God has certainly blessed
me in many ways and to know of his revealing plan for me throughout
this family ordeal has been nothing short of another example of God’s
amazing power and miraculous works. To have a complete family re-union
has been an amazing blessing.

Senior’s Open House -
This is the last ‘OPEN HOUSE’ call
for 2011. Be sure you are able to come and enjoy a time of fellowship
and fun this Thursday, 24th November, in the home of May Grafton at
135 Riverton Drive, Rossmoyne. 10.30 am to 2.30 pm and BYO lunch. Any
queries please contact Glenys or Doreen.
Christmas Carols Night - CHANGE OF DATE -
Sunday 18th December at the Church.
Due to circumstances, we will now be having a traditional Christmas
Carols night at the church on Sunday, 18th December at the church.
There will be no pre-service activities but we will conclude the
service with a fellowship supper. More details will be provided soon.
We will be advertising the Carols night around the local community.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused by the change of date and time.
AMT Christmas Offering -
The total amount for the AMT
Christmas Gift Appeal was $2,394.
Mango Sales -
The amount raised from the sale of
mangos for Rhuma Abedona Hospice was $193.50.
Blankets for Bengalis -
Most of the Ruma Abedona Hospice
(in India) terminally ill patients will be very cold this winter as
they don't have a blanket to warm and comfort them. Imagine the joy on
their faces when they receive a blanket, some for the very first time.
Santanu and his nurses can share in this joy as they distribute
blankets to those in desperate need this Christmas. We can help. We
have so much and they have so little.
We can share Christ's love this Christmas too by donating $20 for a
blanket. Use the special envelopes provided and place in the bag with
your regular offering. Thank you.
Prayer Cards - Local Community
Distribution - This week
we will be distributing the church advertising bookmark / prayer cards
to individual streets in our Ferndale community to: Lofoten Way. The card informs people we will be
praying specifically for their street during the week and invites them
to contact the church with any particular concerns they would like us
to pray for. Please join us in praying for this week's chosen street
so that we may see God's hand of blessing in our community. We will be
asking people within our church family to deliver these cards over the
coming weeks.
The Daily Bread -
for Dec/Jan/Feb has arrived. Please collect your issue.
Just over a month to
Christmas and we have some great DIY gift ideas.
Come and check it out Thursday's 4-5.30pm.
JAM is for children
in Primary School to Year 6, for an afternoon of games
and fun activities. Please contact Anthea McCormick for
inquiries.

From the Pastor's pen...
Well Tracey and I are taking the
family to Vietnam tomorrow
for a week to re-unite with my biological brother and sister from whom
we were separated from 36 years ago when we were adopted out as
toddlers. Our adoptions saw my brother and I go to Australia and my
other brother and sister to America. By the love and grace of God and
by the persistence of my brother we have been able to manage to locate
them and renew a relationship. Please pray as we go this week and
re-connect after all these year in the presence of our biological mum
and older sister who remained in Vietnam alongside mum all these
years. I praise God for this event and am excited at meeting them in
person for the first time. Thank you to the church family for your
love and prayers over this situation.

Christmas Carols Night -
Friday 9 December, at the
Church. We need help with organisation and participation. We are
looking to have Christmas Carols at the church on Friday Night, 9th
December. We would like to have this open to the community by putting
on activities before the service. We need people to help organise
this event by committing to a particular activity, organise it and run
it. If you are able to help, please see Mark or James and start
organising it. Also, we would love to have people do song and drama
items during the evening so if you would like to participate in the
evening with an item, that would be great. See James regarding this.

From the Pastor's pen...
What a privilege it is to be a
part of people’s baptisms.
There is greater joy as being a
Pastor than seeing someone come to faith in Jesus and seek to grow in
their faith. Baptism is a proclamation and public declaration of their
faith in Jesus and so it brings a special blessing when we are able to
participate and witness this event in one’s faith journey. May God
continue to bless and give wisdom and guidance in the lives of Trevor,
Goldie, Frances and Alina as they seek to love and follow Jesus as
Lord of their lives.

Men’s Growth Group -
We are starting a new Men’s Growth
Group as was discussed at the AGM in August. The first session will
begin this afternoon from 3pm – 5pm at the church. We would love to
have as many men as possible join us for this first session. The aim
of the group is to meet regularly to focus on our growth and role as
men and will include bible study, prayer, sharing and encouraging,
plus some specific studies on leadership, gifts and service. If you
are intending to come, please let Mark Medhurst or Steve Russell know
that you are coming.

prayerfully consider donating a gift of love and support at this
